Driven by the passion to seek new challenges, Indo Rama has forayed into the power sector. Indo Rama’s 71.08MW installed capacity at Butibori comprises of 40 MW STG facility based on coal and 31.08 MW DG sets facility based on furnace oil.
The 40 MWcoal-based cogeneration power plant is set up at a cost of Rs. 128 crore. The Company’s combined power generation capabilities are integrated into a common power supply pool, from which required amount of power is fed for internal use.
The DG operation is restricted to the lowest and used only for emergency back-up and the facility avail its maximum power through coal based captive power plant and use imported power from open access as a cheaper option whenever required.
The power situation in India is one where demand exceeds supply and shortages are as high as 16.6%. This provides a massive growth opportunity for the Company in the power business. Considering the exponential growth in demand for energy in the country, the company aims to establish itself as a force to be reckoned with in the energy sector in the times to come.
